Under a powerful Mayan curse, snakes are hatched inside a young woman, slowly devouring her from within. Her only chance for survival is a powerful shaman who lives across the border. With only hours to live, she jumps on a train headed for Los Angeles. Unfortunately for the passengers aboard, they are now trapped, soon to be victims of these flesh-eating vipers. ~IMDB

Asylum Entertainment throws yet
another rip-off opus onto the rental shelves with Snakes on a Train -- an exceedingly gross horror flick with a high dose of no-budget effects at the end. In that way, the flick actually lives up to its marketing, as yes, a giant snake does indeed eat a full-sized train in the last few minutes! Leading up to that point is a bit of hurdle, however. The poor acting and thin plot are to be expected; what isn't is how far the filmmakers have pushed the nasty envelope as far as the gore is concerned. Stockpiles of other films have beaten cinema's bloody boundaries to a pulp in the past, though not many have continually wrenched such sick imagery for the sake of cheap exploitation. While Samuel L. Jackson's-kitsch thriller aimed for audiences to have fun with the material, this blatant knock-off only pushes viewers away with its disease-ridden characters and neon green snake puke. Of course, it'll always come down to the outrageous finale with this Snakes.., as that is where the movie finally drops the disgusting tone and delivers on its B-movie absurdity. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
