Cult filmmaker Herschell Gordon Lewis directed this outrageously campy story of an all-female motorcycle gang called The Man-Eaters. The butch, chain-wielding women pick men to service them from a line-up, fight with male bikers, and hold orgies. Nancy Lee Noble (The Girl, the Body, and the Pill) appears as a naive recruit named Honey-Pot, and there are the usual decapitations and crucifixions which the viewer might expect from the director of Blood Feast. T-shirts bearing images of the film's flamboyant poster ("Soft, HELL!") became trendy among urban teens in the 1980s. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

lost interest.
With his better-known gore films, Herschell Gordon Lewis was a pioneer, going farther than anyone else dared, probing the depths of disgust and discomfort onscreen with more bad taste and imagination than anyone of his era. However, when he attempted to follow the profitable trends of the day, his inexperience with whatever subject was most exploitable is clearly evident amongst the wreckage of amateurish acting and home-movie level cinematography. She-Devils on Wheels is a stab at the biker genre, with a gang of limerick-spouting, colorfully attired biker ladies, all of whom can ride (Lewis' one nod to realism), but have a hard time appearing threatening, even while committing heinous acts. The lack of profanity ("Dirty Mother Fuzz!" "Up Your Magic Dragon!") is peculiar considering how feral these females are supposed to be, and the raucous orgy sequences are performed with their gaudy felt-and-yarn outfits intact. There's only about 15 minutes worth of plot stretched out to feature length, but the film is packed with sick thrills. The Man-Eaters rumble with a rival male gang and urinate on the losers, drag a former stud behind a bike at high speeds to prove that love means nothing to them, and decapitate a motorcycle-riding enemy (depicted in a memorably fake fashion). This is precisely what makes She-Devils on Wheels so entertaining; fairly dull, fresh-faced young people having a ball pretending to be bad, and coming up so wonderfully short. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide
