By all standards, a locale known as Mosney, just north of Dublin, Ireland, qualifies as one of the most eccentric and unusual sites in the United Kingdom. Once a popular and very lucrative vacation place for families across Great Britain - and home to one of the famed Butlins Holiday Camps - the milieu witnessed the on-site erection of fairground-style buildings and attractions including a carousel, a ballroom and a large swimming pool. After the park was sold in the 1980s to a private company, however, the town quickly re-appropriated its facilities for an alternate use: as a base for immigrants seeking asylum in Ireland. Paul Rowley's documentary Seaview travels to Mosney for extended conversations with such residents - who speak candidly and pointedly on their constant fears of deportation, their backgrounds, their mother countries and their efforts to aggressively adapt to the culture and traditional lifestyles of this strange new environment. The film also directly witnesses the ways in which the prospects of indefinite detention and confinement can negatively impact an individual's life and innate need for liberty. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
