This drama about dueling health clubs focuses on Roger (Daniel Greene), who runs a gym called (logically enough ) "Roger's Gym." But Roger is fast losing business to The Rejuvenarium, a health club owned by Marlene (Helga Liné). It seems Marlene is making off with Roger's best instructors and is keeping close watch on his business, possibly using illegal surveillance. In the annals of classic '80s cheese cinema, Pulsebeat ranks up with some of the best. The film is a fast-moving rocket of a good time, highlighted by hot tunes, sexy bodies, and hammy porn-worthy acting right down the line. Filmed at the height of the aerobics craze, Pulsebeat is a glorious time capsule of whacked-out hair and sweaty muscles that doesn't stop until the audience has broken their own sweat. Featuring one of the most hilarious opening-credit sequences ever put to film, the flick kicks open to close-ups of lycra-covered butts and boobs, followed by a spastic dance sequence underneath a shower nozzle! If that weren't enough, there's plenty more casual nudity where that came from, along with a steamy sex scene filmed in a weight room, no less. Multiple music montages keep the energy high, as the flick builds to its ridiculous Aerobathon finale. Pulsebeat is the cure for all that ails, delivering laugh after laugh of unintended hilarity that will suck in anyone who dares go near it.
