Directed by Jim Sonzero
When wireless technology puts humans into contact with an unstoppable force that's determined to claim the lives of the living for the souls of the damned, it's up to a group of determined teens to close the gate before it's too late in director Jim Sonzero's remake of Kiyoshi Kurosawa's apocalyptic horror classic. A doorway between the human realm and the spiritual realm has been opened, and now the technology that once made humankind the ruler of the planet has become its digital Achilles heel. With every call made and every e-mail checked, life is slowly being stolen from the living and claimed for the dead. With no way of turning off the connection and no means of reasoning with a force they cannot understand, a desperate group of college students must discover a means of stopping the takeover before the entire planet is transformed into a cosmic haunting ground for wayward souls in search of a home. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Wow, this is like the 4th movie with "Pulse" as it's only title or something. Crazy... This movie was not scary in my opinion, but all the decay was cool none the less. There was a lot that was left open at the end, so I hope they make a second one to follow it up. The ending was along the lines that many dead-comes-to-life movies follow. " [More]

"PULSE (2001, a.k.a. Kairo) isn't particularly scary but it does a pretty good job of creating a sense of impending doom.  The film is another in the long string of arguments in favor of evoking tension and mood rather than over explaining or clobbering the audience with exposition.  Things happen slowly in this movie.  That's not necessarily a bad thing but the payoff isn't a big one in terms of scares.  Instead the film aims for creating a sense of doom and gloom that hangs rather s " [More]

"Abysmal, shallow, typical Americanized piece of crap. This is what’s wrong with American films. For the one decent American movie comes a horde of lame unoriginal like this. First off, it’s a crappy remake of what I can only hope is a better original. If you’re going to Americanize a foreign film at least try to keep its inherited merit intact. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Grudge series but I commend them for not altering the complicated Japanese s " [More]

"Why? Why do Americans feel the need to license and butcher movies from other countries. All the style with none of the flavor. It is like eating prop food. Mmm, tastes like foam and paint. " [More]

"Non-distinct monosaturated ghouls jump from WIFI and computer into the lives of four idiotic college students. Ian Somerhalder (always over his head with shirt on, rarely over his head with shirt off) has all the exposition. His character is jammed "round peg in square hole" into this everything including the kitchen sink (except clarity, chills, or imagination) horror/thriller. This " [More]
