"As for Hell Of The Living Dead being the worst zombie movie ever made I was sure I could top that one... The first one that leapt to mind was one I saw several years ago called The Child ... I found this one in my collection and rewatched it and I quickly realized one thing... this is not a bad movie at all! Working with a bare minimum budget and amateur actors working with terrible dialogue from amateur writers, these guys obviously spent all of their money on the few effective gore effects! "McCain campaign ad on Zombie NationThe John McCain campaign would do well to exclude certain sites from its web ad buy. Maybe the philosophy of "cast a wide net" will pay off. "Night of the Living Dead is one of those movies that is more significant for its influence then for its artistic quality. It was one of the first independent American films to become a hit (sorry, AIP counts as a studio), and it did so without a major distributor, either. It was probably the most graphic horror film ever made up to that point, and is considered by some to be a precursor to the slasher genre. It also directly inspired the seeming thousands of filmmakers who themselves have decided to make a zombie film, with precious few of them any good. "After interviewing George Romero at Sundance 2008, Joe Swanberg and Ronald Bronstein (the interviewers) began to debate whether or not there’s even a place today for subversive directors (i.e. those who defy an institution–Hollywood–while pretending to support it). Romero’s Night of the Living Dead served as a blood and guts zombie vehicle carrying everything troubling him about the turbulent 60’s. The argument today is that subversion is unnecessary.
