Directed by John Chester
A group of filmmakers conducting a unique humanitarian experiment attempt to help two homeless alcoholics get their lives back on track in a documentary from filmmaker John Chester. In 2005 filmmakers Chester and Andre Miller gassed up their RV, set out across the United States to locate strangers whose lives had fallen into disarray, and attempted to help them get back on their feet for a series that was set to be aired on A&E. Though the series is quickly cancelled, Chester and Miller found themselves incredibly moved by the plight of two homeless alcoholics from Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Long out of touch with their families, Mark and Normand lived in a tent on the fringes of society and found solace and strength through the strong bond of friendship. In the following weeks Chester and Miller would work tirelessly to get Mark into detox and a halfway house in hopes that he would embrace a life of sobriety and become a healthy, functioning member of society. Later, when the filmmakers return to Woonsocket to find out what has become of Mark and Normand, the discoveries they make prove raise the question whether or not a simple television show can change the lives of ordinary people. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
