"The title claims to be local slang for heroine in early 80s Manhattan. I class this film (with "Donnie Darko") as a noble but failed experiment. Ostensibly about the club scene in Manhattan, the plot thickens when aliens land on the apartment roof of a lesbian night clubber and somehow steal the endorphins of her partners when they have a climax. Unfortunately, this theft is fatal for her partners. C'est la vie. The film is a great documentary of its time, and it explored gender issues, homosexuality, and the self-closeting of gays and lesbians in the 70s as they sought to fit in in high school among the straight crowd. The director, Slava Tsukerman, and his co-screenwriter (and star of the film) Anne Carlisle manage to take the themes beyond that, however, and they've made a film that resonates in a weird, narcissistic way. It teeters on the edge of being a great movie, but it falls the wrong way. Well worth seeing, though. "
