Someone hates "hanging judge" Lynn Carlin (
Roxanne Hart) enough to try to murder her. Detectives Briscoe (
Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) manage to connect the attempted assassination with a pair of prison inmates. In the final analysis, however, the suspect is difficult to track, and the D.A.'s office is faced with a near-insurmountable legal dilemma.
