Directed by Doug Block
Documentary filmmaker Doug Block puts faces to the names of some leading figures in the Internet Revolution in Home Page. Block's primary focus is on Justin Hall, a self-styled web guru whose website, "Justin's Links From The Underground," includes a diary section in which he lays bare the most personal details of his existence, from arguments with friends to the most recent events in his sex life. Block follows Hall as on a speaking tour as he spreads the gospel of the web in America's coffeehouses and meets other residents of cyberspace in person as they explain how and why they reveal their lives to the world via computer. Eventually, Block starts his own web page, and the feedback from his on-line diary gives both the filmmaker and the viewer another perspective on how interaction on the web is changing people's lives. Home Page premiered at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
