"I have always tried to maintain low expectations for Hollywood product in general. But when it comes to highly anticipated movies, particularly blockbuster sequels to popular sci-fi action franchises, my excitement can get the best of me. Whenever I need to calm down my expectations, though, I simply recall all the disappointments of 1997 (Alien Resurrection, The Lost World, the Star Wars Special Edition), and I can get through the hype pretty safely. Considering I’m one of the few who actually loved both Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and (yes, even) McG’s Charlie’s Angels movies, it’s hard for me to believe that I’m also one of the few who isn’t now expecting Terminator Salvation to be the second coming of Christ

"Serenity was in my red envelope this week after a series of events led me to the film. When it was released, I had been intrigued by it purely because of its status as a science fiction film, and most of the people that I know who saw it generally had favorable things to say about it. What I didn't realize until later was that Serenity was the spinoff or continuation film of the series Firefly, which aired on and was quickly cancelled by Fox in 2002. I remember actually trying to watch Firefly when it originally aired, at least for a couple of episodes. I didn't get it then. I was not, at that time, a viewer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel and did not really give too much thought about Joss Whedon. I didn't understand why Firefly was a western or what its wacky if clever and slightly campy sense of humor was all about. I quickly got bored and stopped watching it. I was never initially a fan of Buffy or Angel either, even though friends of mine absolutely obsessed over th ... "

And if you could get the subject of necrophilia past the initial tsk-tsking of your grandma, there is a good chance that she would end up at film’s end thinking the movie was rather sad and sweet, and would hardly take offense at all to what is being suggested by its potentially creepy premise.I first saw Pretty Dead Girl on some cable network sometime about a year ago. I am not sure if it was Sundance or IFC, but honestly, I mix those channels up so much that I am never able to check out any of their shows regularly. Of course, most of the shows I have seen on there are of the variety about which I don’t give a rat’s ass, except for the ones done by Henry Rollins and Jon Favreau, but honestly, even thinking really hard, I can’t remember which one of the channels ... "Behold the latest episode of The Dr. Steel Show, about an evil doctor bent on taking over the world. Sound familiar? Apparently it’s been ripped off by the new Joss Whedon project, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, which Karina commented on yesterday. And as early as Adam’s praise last week when Whedon’s series launched, SpoutBlog has been receiving comments from followers (known as the Army of Toy Soldiers) of the allegedly real-life Dr. Steel.
