"Duplicity (2009) is forgettable. You’d expect it to make an impression because with Tony Gilroy at the helm (Jason Bourne movies; Michael Clayton) and a fleet of top-notch actors . . . But even if we grant that it is a romantic caper film and not supposed to be substantial, it is still not a particularly good romantic caper film. Why? Take the romantic part. Even though Clare (Julia Roberts) and Ray (Clive Owens) have some on-screen chemistry, what is the basis of their attraction? We don’t know. They are both profession "

"I have tried to watch this three times now, it is SO boring! Not even the ruggish good looks of Clive Owen or Julia Roberts trade mark smile can save this movie! The plot is hard to follow and when you can make out what's happening you realise it's not the slightest bit interesting. Avoid. "

"Viewers were probably supposed to be captivated by the as the story plot is revealed and compelled to figure out who is really being conned (by whom) and the real reasons why. Unfortunately, the movie is so difficult to follow and generally boring that half way through, you will conclude that it isn't worth the effort. "

"Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Wilkinson are set to star with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in Duplicity, the Universal Pictures drama written and to be directed by Tony Gilroy. Laura Bickford is producing. Wilkinson reteams with Gilroy right after he received a supporting actor Oscar nomination for the Gilroy-directed Michael Clayton. Thornton and Wilkinson will play the CEOs of rival pharmaceutical companies racing to corner the market on an innovation that will bring wild profits. Roberts and Owen play corporate spies who try to manipulate which corporation will win. Source: Variety January 24, 2008 Originally posted on:Slices of sovereignty "

"With the fate of Heath Ledger’s final projects up in the air, Variety takes a look at some past films that were effected by the sudden deaths of their respective stars. Would Shrek have been as popular with Chris Farley as the voice of the titular ogre? Would Interview With the Vampire be better with River Phoenix? Should Jane Harlow’s final film, Saratoga, have been scrapped? WGA reps and studio execs enter a second day of informal talks today, which should be more exciting that it feels to me. Maybe it’s because I just read this detail of how badly the writer’s s "
