A road trip rolls through a small town where the line between the dead and the living has become a bit problematic in this horror parody. A handful of twentysomethings are driving to Galveston, TX, in an RV to attend the wedding of a close friend. After a long day on the road, the travelers find themselves in a tiny town called Lovelock, where the only available accommodations are at a bed and breakfast run by the eccentric Mr. Wise (David Carradine). One of the kids, Johnny (Oz Perkins), notices that Mr. Wise is carefully looking after a small box; curious about its contents, Johnny opens it, only to unleash a torrent of evil spirits who turn the local rednecks into bloodthirsty creatures hovering somewhere between life and death. Dead & Breakfast features supporting performances by Portia de Rossi, Diedrich Bader, Jeremy Sisto, and David Carradine's daughter Ever Carradine; co-star Oz Perkins is also the offspring of a well-known actor, Anthony Perkins. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

"I saw this movie a very long time ago, and havn't seen it since. That being said I've thought of it plenty of times. There are some amazing scenes in this movie, one of my favorites happens at a little ho-down in the barn (I shan't go further as to not spoil anything). Anyway in my opinion this movie was amazing, it was funny, it was spooky it was all aroung magic. " [More]

"While not exactly a straight zomibe film, its for sure a refreshing take on the genre. A bit of the story seemed off but aside from that it had many things going for it, plenty of gore and one hell of a funny dance number preformed by the dead, mocking the thriller dance moves. Over all it was quite enjoyable and had some laugh out loud moments. " [More]

"I have to say The Descent has been one of the best "newer" films I have seen lately. Although, I have been watching a lot of Older films from the 70s and 80s on my Netflix Queue. Dead Silence wasn't too bad, it was a little on the cheesey side but had some very good goosebump moments that I liked. [More]

"I'm going to HAVE to put Chopper Chicks of Zombietown on my Netflix Cue - I bet that wasn't too much of a stretch for Joan Jett to play a tough biker chick. I never knew she acted in anything. I always thought it would be so much fun to play a zombie in a movie (especially the ones that move really slow and lose body parts).Has anyone seen Dead and Breakfast, I th " [More]

If anything, Dead & Breakfast's heart is in the right place -- with its gore-splattered insanity and slapstick leanings, this horror comedy tries hard to be the next midnight cult fave, which it very well might become despite its pedestrian stabs at wacky hijinks. In distribution hell for almost a year, the flick occupied its own place in 2003-2004's indie zombie horror triumviral that included the U.K.'s Shaun of the Dead and Australia's own Undead, all of which share the love for the genre in their own distinct ways. Breakfast's stamp comes in the form of a goofy style of humor that throws as many jokes to the wall as it does appendages. Though the joke-by-the-minute approach certainly isn't the best, you can't say that the filmmakers didn't try to do something different. With its inventive use of comic-styled illustrations and a hillbilly honky-tonk musician narrator, Dead & Breakfast certainly tries to do something new, even if the filmmakers' ideas are often loftier than the eye-rolling outcomes (look no further than the dreadful redneck rap musical number for proof). On the upside, the movie does embrace its 35 mm stock to give a better-than-DV quality to it and there certainly are plenty of blood buckets for the fans to slop up, so at least it can be easily devoured by the genre masses despite its bitter aftertaste. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
