"This movie was by far the worst movie ever created and therefore shouldn’t have been created it was down right awful and I would not recommend it to it’s own creator. The plot had no meaning except it was about a girl who loves to shop and gets a job on a magazine and ends up losing most of her stuff because of a financial advisor or something and then falls in love. But other than that it was stupid. Don’t buy it! "

""Shopaholic" may be about a comedy about an aspiring fashion journalist struggling with large amounts of debt and a shopping addiction, but despite the depressing subject matter during this tough economic time, the film is fun to watch. Isla Fisher proves she can carry a major motion picture on her own, playing the giggly, label obsessed, Rebecca Bloomwood. Though the film is full of unrealistic occurrences where the lead continuously finds her way out of tricky situations with her silly antics, it still, in many ways, is more relatable than most "Sex and the City" episodes...Read the rest of this critic's review here! "Just over two months ago, Pajamas Media blogger Roger Kimball insisted that the economic picture could not possible be as dire as those mainstream liberal media hysterics wanted us to think. Then last week, Pajamas Media announced that their blog network is going out of business. Lesson learned: he who attempts to undercut the current economic pessimism ends up ironically fucked. That is, unless “he” is talking about Hollywood. The movie industry is thriving so undeniably in this downturn –– Hollywood just wrapped its best January ever at the box office, with theater attendance up over 16% –– that just yesterday the MPAA’s proposed tax credits were thrown out of the economic stimulus package (California senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, no doubt well aware of the longer-tail consequences of the credit crunch on film financing, voted to keep the tax credits in). With the recent successes of mindless escapist fare like Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and the middling box offi "

"Confessions of a Shopaholic worked for me. Based on the novel by Sophie Kinsella the story follows a young collage graduate working as a financial journalist in New York, who falls for a wealthy entrepreneur. Isla Fisher and Krysten Ritter are adorable and, no matter what, very likeable. P.J. Hogan directs with much enjoyment and mischief and it shows "

"They say honesty is the key to good comedy, and "Confessions of a Shopaholic" is one of the most honest movies I've seen in a long time. It's a straightforward, fashion-drenched trifle that doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. But its theme of fiscal irresponsibility has accidentally become socially significant of late. For this reason, some worried that the movie would have to beg for acceptance in this fearful, recession-laden economy. It doesn't. It is unapologetic about the pleasures that shopping affords, but just as unflinching about the addictive nature of the hobby and the value (or is it worth?) of non-material things. The uninitiated may not buy the movie's declaration that shopping is better than (or at least equivalent to) sex, but those who know will understand this confession. Those who do not shop will just need to suspend their disbelief, or better yet, earn their tutelage from the movie.Isla Fisher finally gets a well-deserved lead as the movie's protagonist, ... "
