Here, the dope-smoking duo are working on an ice-cream truck, and their specially treated confections are more than just a hit for the kids. Nice Dreams is the third in the series. ~ John Bush, All Movie Guide

lost interest.
Thought to be comedy duo Cheech and Chong's second best effort after
Up in Smoke, Nice Dreams contains a collection of truly hearty laughs as the comedians work their magic in scene after scene of dope-driven humor. To be fair, some of the skits go on a bit too long, with a few performers pushing the over-the-top envelope one too many times, but for the most part, Nice Dreams is a perfect continuation for this pothead team. This time, they hit not only the wacky weed but throw in adventures in cocaine and acid that add to the inspired lunacy. Supporting actors are key to the film as well, from
Paul Reubens as Hamburger Howie Dude to Timothy Leary and, last but not least,
Stacy Keach's absurd turn as the returning cop character that transforms into a lizard in this one. As usual, the funniest moments aren't found in the audacious comedic setups but in the banter that Cheech and Chong were so brilliant at. Sometimes there's no need for complicated scenes when all one needs to create humor is wind these two up and watch them go -- something that Nice Dreams hits fairly consistently during its breezy 88-minute running time. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
