A traveling entertainer falls prey to a disturbed recluse in director Fabrice de Welz's twisted, slow burn riff on Deliverance and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Having finished his latest performance at a remote retirement home, wandering singer Marc Stevens (Laurent Lucas) packs his gear into his van and sets out towards his next gig. Unfortunately for Marc, the fog shrouded roads of rural France are more treacherous than he ever anticipated. When his van breaks down in the middle of the night and a skittish local promises to lead him to a nearby inn owned by the eccentric recluse Paul Bartel (Jackie Berroyer), it appears that luck may be on Marc's side and he will be back on the road with the light of the morning sun. This isn't your average bed and breakfast though, and Bartel certainly isn't the kindly innkeeper he initially appears to be. When Marc's van is set aflame and his increasingly menacing host makes a most disturbing claim, the soft-spoken singer will be forced to fight for his life against not only Bartel, but an entire village of deeply disturbed woodsmen. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Lake Placid 2 is a sad parody of the witty original. the set-up is the same - people are going missing and then getting attacked/eaten on a peaceful Maine lake. Luckily, the filmmakers just gave up and went for the camp, knowing this film could never be taken seriously. But it's not even campy enough to be really good.I really enjoyed [More]

"This movie creeped my out in a way that no film has in a long time. With a very substantial budget, Fabrice Du Weiz was able to create a unique/disturbing film that is loaded with tension and suspence. Almost every review links this film to Deliverance and The TCM, and while the backwoods nature certainly lends itself to this film, it definatly stands on its own creativly. When I say Halloween, I mean in the low buget feel of the movie, because it's clear that this film doesnt have sfx or To " [More]

"[quote user="indieabby88"] So, I watched "The Orphanage" last night with a friend, and between curling up in a terrified ball and screaming at the screen more than I had at any other horror film in recent memory, I wondered what the foreign film folks here at Spout thought of this movie, and (upon further, calmer reflection) of foreign horror films in general. Any favorites? I'm not particularly knowledgable in horror movies outside of the states, so any insight would be awesome. " [More]

"I remember that opening scene in the vehicle and the killer is proceeding to do something with a skull. Now for alll you that have seen Haute Tension, you know what I am talking about? From that point on after he is done and discards the head out the window, the movie proceeds to get better with plot and gore! After seeing that and not being disapointed. I have proceeded to watch most films from France. Since [More]
