Directed by Michael Rymer
One of the most popular television series of the late '70s science fiction boom gets a new look for the new millennium in remake, created as a made-for-cable miniseries. Four decades after the Cylon Wars, the Cylon robots (some of whom have since assumed human form) have launched a vicious nuclear attack, leaving only a few Colonial forces to lead the survivors to safety. Led by starship commander Adama (Edward James Olmos) and politician and possible presidential successor Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell), the crew of the Battlestar Galactica searches the galaxy for the mythic 13th Colony of Kobol (otherwise known as Earth), their destination and only hope for survival. Battlestar Galactica: The Miniseries also stars Jamie Bamber, James Callis, and Grace Park. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

"Battlestar Galactica One of the best sci-fi revivals of all time. Olmos as Adama is quite possibly the best casting decision ever. The only drawback is the season breaks they take in the winter that typically end with a cliff hanger. " [More]

"I haven't read much Asimov. Which movies are influenced by his stories besides Bicentennial man and I, Robot? Do you think I, Robot influenced Philip K. Dick's Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. " [More]

"[quote user="rjsprague"] Probably one of the most prolific writers of science fiction I know of, Isaac Asimov is a fascinating person. I just recently read Bicentennial Man, which was made into a movie a few years back. I was wondering, aside from the Asimov pieces that have already been translated to film, what works by him would you like to see on the silver screen? Who would you choose as the cast?
