"As far as Hollywood is concerned, the best way to lose one’s virginity is on the road. Whether driving cross-country for a sure thing or making a weekend trip to the state university in an attempt to get laid, teens are always taking sex-seeking trips in the movies. Already this year, there was College, which featured some high school kids having sex on a campus far from home, and now this week sees the release of Sex Drive, a movie about a guy traveling 500 miles in order to hook up a girl he met online, just so he doesn’t begin college a virgin. Though it may be wrong to celebrate movies that could possibly be encouragement for online predators and purveyors of sex tourism, we present some of our favorite cinematic virgins who lost it on a road trip: (Warning: potential spoilers ahead.)

"Even though some of last year’s Comic-Con secrets were leaked to the web ahead of time, the 2007 SDCC was a huge deal as far as revelations go. Whether it was the unveiling of Karen Allen’s involvement in Indiana Jones and the Then-Still-Not-Subtitled Fourth Installment or cast updates for Watchmen and Star Trek or a bit of clarification on what the hell that Cloverfield movie was, Comic-Con 2007 left us super excited and highly anticipatory for the next year of movie releases. But after a quick glance, the 2008 convention doesn’t seem like it will have as many big announcements. There should be plenty of new footage shown from movies like Watchmen (making its second Comic-Con round) and The Spirit (hopefully there’s some better looking stuff than the most recent trailer gave us "

"For those who may have been out of town last week, it’s time to catch up on the first episode of Italian Spiderman, a wacky new series that spoofs Italian action films from the ’60s and ’70s (while pretending to be a forty-year-old print salvaged from the Atlantic Ocean). It premiered online last Thursday, but it’s more interesting today, since the Internet was all abuzz yesterday with the rumor (started by Latino Review) that Sony’s looking at both Patrick Fugit or Michael Angaro to replace Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 4 and 5. But I say, why go for either of the kids from Almost Famous (Fugit and Angaro both portray the young Cameron Crowe character at different ages), when there’s Italian Spiderman? In fact, why bother making more Hollywood Spider-Man movies, when th "

"Almost Famous is one of those movies that will stop me from channel surfing to watch it when it is on. Although it has its flaws, it is one of Cameron Crowe's best and most personal movies. It is right up there with Singles (1992). I loved how this movie really evoked the feeling of the 70s. That mood that what was special about the 60s was slipping away. That feeling is mirrored by the gradual loss of William's innocence as he leaves the shelter of his overprotective mother for the care of Penny Lane. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is great (as always) as the rock critic who is William's mentor and offers advice that is too eagerly discarded until he realizes its worth far too late. It is hard to believe that Crowe could make this and be the force behind the soulless Jerry Maguire (1996). "

"This movie is just simply wonderful. The story is obviously original because it was based off of the director's own experiences. It's charming and in the end, you'll just smile. Patrick Fugit's innocence and respect for others in this film is refreshing in the environment he's set in. His character is open to new experiences, but knows when things can go too far. Philip Seymour Hoffman is great in this movie too. I like his slightly witty attitude and how he is a lifeline for Fugit's character. Kate Hudson was stunning. Yes, she's beautiful, but her acting was so... real. I was impressed with her performance. No wonder she was nominated for an Oscar for this performance. I recommend this movie to anyone reading this. It's a great film. "

"I loved Almost Famous (2000). It was the world I inhabited in my late teens—in my imagination as I ground our hour after hour studying in the library instead of traveling the country with a rock n roll band. But when more than 150 critics place Almost Famous in their top ten of the year, there must be much more going on in the movie. Good acting for one. Kate Hudson, for example, is radiant and convincing—deserving of her Golden Globe award for Best Supporting Actress. For another, the main character is an unusual and interesting kid. Fifteen or sixteen years old, he is totally uncool, and that is his strength. In 1973 that is believable, but I don’t know about today. For another, a relevant theme threads its way unobtrusively through the story: “get real.” When the lead guitar player of the band vows to get real, he drinks LSD, leaps from the roof of a house, and cannot remember later what he said. There must be a better answer, and, to an extent, the ... "

"This movie really sends you through an emotional rollercoaster. You really get in tune with the main character, and your feelings during the movie change as he does. Sure this isn't one of the best music-based movies; but it is a great movie to watch. Seeing as it focuses more on an interviewer than a band, you don't understand everything about the band members and groupies that take this boy on a wild american adventure, you can't be sure what will happen next. Closing comments: You really get close with the main character and feel every feeling he goes through, the crazyness of a big-rock band and the lonlyness of a boy leaving his family make this a great movie. "Have you ever listened to a song on the radio, and it remind you of a moment in your life? Maybe it was the song that played when you first kissed your wife. Or maybe it told the tale you lived long ago or maybe just yesterday. A good song makes you remember, but a great song takes you back. I can almost imagine this for Cameron Crowe as he worked on his so-called "Ode to Rock & Roll", pulling out old .45s stuck in his attic, listening with the windows open and his eyes closed, capturing the feeling, the time, the place. And most of all, he captures the people that changed his life, changed there names, and called it Untitled. It was only at the demand of the studio that he changed the title to Almost Famous, which was just as good a title considering the themes of the movie. But I can understand his title to. If he can't put the real names to his fictious characters, why should this movie have a name, too? The film isn't about names; it's about feelings, a ... "
