Lam Ching-ying stars in this wild and woolly supernatural crime spectacular as Fung Zee, a hard-bitten cop and talented Taoist master. When a mysterious drug dealer refuses to surrender to the cops, refuses to die after being shot by the cops and generally lurches around like a member of the undead, Fung finds himself heading up the case. An investigation of the scene and the corpse soon leads him to slick health club in the bustling neighbor of Tsimshatsui, where Fung encounters Eddie (Frankie Chin Chi-leung), a beefy messenger for a mysterious Japanese woman (Michiko Nishiwaki) who proves to be just as skilled in the supernatural as Fung. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

Dirty Harry meets Mr. Vampire in this humorous and fast-paced horror-fu tale of a Taoist priest/cop with a knack for the supernatural. Lam Chin-Ying trades his yellow
One Eyebrow Priest robe for a badge in order to battle an evil sorceress utilizing the undead in a bizarre drug-smuggling scheme. Police attempt to stop a suspect with superhuman strength who is apparently impervious to bullets and begin to suspect that they may be in need of mystical assistance. Who you gonna call? Arriving to examine the body, Fung (Chin-Ying) teams with sergeant 2273 and Officer Lam to crack the case. Utilizing multiple spells, including possession of his partner in order to track the evil sorceress, Fung follows her undead legion of criminals straight to the source in a visually stunning climactic rooftop battle. Full of inventive special effects and set at a head-spinning pace, Magic Cop brings Taoist priest mentality into a modern setting with exciting and entertaining results. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
