Directed by Marcel Carné.
In a comedy-farce that runs from black humor to slapstick, this story is one in which a mystery writer is caught unawares by his cousin, a vicar, who shows up unannounced for a visit. Since the servants have just walked out, the writer's wife hides out from the vicar, taking care of the cooking, cleaning and other household chores. To explain his wife's absence as hostess, the writer concocts an excuse which only makes the vicar convinced that he has done away with his spouse. Things go from bad to worse and eventually Scotland Yard is called in to clear things up. ~ Tana Hobart, All Movie Guide

"This blog entry is part of my “movie year countdown”. To read more about that check out my first Spout filmblog entry. Drôle de drame ou L'étrange aventure de Docteur Molyneux This is a fun little French farce. You know it will start out fun when you get the preacher denouncing all of the sinful novels that have been published lately and then a serial killer who goes nuts saying these novels ruined his life. I'm not sure if there's any point in digging too deep into it in this blog. There's quite a bit of satire here as you would probably expect. It may live in a specific time and place, but poking fun at things like greed, concern for self-image, false piety, mob mentality, drunkenness, and such are usually universal. Entertaining the whole way through. Rating: 8/10 " [More]

"Here’s the dilemma. I have a list of well over three thousand movies I want to see saved on IMDB. I have a subscription to Netflix and recently every time I return a DVD it has been an extremely arduous task to make the decision as to which movie I should see next. In an effort to narrow down my choices and make the process of choosing slightly less overwhelming I have devised a system, almost a bit of a game for me. Here’s how it goes. For my first film selection, I have narrowed the options down to only films that were released in the year 2006. Then after I have watched that movie, my next selection would have to be a film released in 2005. Then I would see a film from 2004, then 2003, etc. The process of deciding is still laborious, but actually quite a bit more exciting. (I'm going by IMDB as my source for release years)I have already been making a list and have also already begun watching the films. I decided this might be a good time to start fooling ...
