The trials and tribulations of dating in the 1990s are played for laughs in the memorably titled 30, Still Single: Contemplating Suicide. Mitchell (Christopher May) was born and raised in the Midwest, but moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s. After seven years in California, he's decided to head back East, and as he sits at a beachfront cafe, he tells the audience what really bothers him about L.A. -- the women. In a series of flashbacks, viewers get a glimpse of the ongoing disaster that has been Mitchell's love life, including an assignation with his asthmatic neighbor, an inarguably memorable night with a women who forgets to mention that she has herpes, and a very unsuccessful blind date. Several women also stop by to present their views on the ugly side of courtship rituals. 30, Still Single: Contemplating Suicide received favorable notices when it was screened at the 1999 Santa Barbara Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
