"Paramount may soon be under investigation by the MPAA for allegedly marketing inappropriate content to children. Specific TV ads for Iron Man and Drillbit Taylor have been highlighted by the Better Business Bureau as being targeted to kids aged 12 and under. Apparently this isn’t kosher since both movies are rated PG-13. Of course, anyone who has been to or worked at a movie theater knows, there’s no stopping kids under the age of 13 from buying tickets to such movies. But that doesn’t mean it’s suitable for PG-13-rated fare to be directly marketed to the younger audience. Both movies have been advertised during Nickelodeon shows Zoey 101 and Drake & Josh, which are primarily viewed by preteens and other youths. Stephanie Sanchez at IESB.net, reporting on this story, adds that the MPAA should also address Paramount’s marketing of Strange Wilderness, which she saw advertised during Spongebob Squarepants and Drake & Josh while watching the programs with her kids, aged 4 and 6. "Before going to far into this, I want to say that I like all the main actors in this, including Steve Zahn, Allen Covert, Jonah Hill, Justin Long, and Kevin Heffernan (who finally does something unrelated to Broken Lizard). However, overall, the film falls short on laughs.That's not to say that it is a borefest. I laughed out loud a handful of times, mostly during the overdubbing of nature scenes, and to the first Bigfoot scene. Overall, a lot of jokes fall short. Jonah Hill was surprisingly off in this film, but he was a minor role. I liked Justin Long's short one-liners despite his terrible character. Steve Zahn's glory, as aforementioned, was mostly in the overdubbing scenes. A scene with Zahn and Covert battling with the gangster in the car was terribly unfunny.Robert Patrick's part was also a waste. No reason for him to be there. "Sometimes people confuse the term "stoner movie" for any movie that has someone getting high in it, even if that's not the focus of the film. Such is the case with 2008's "Strange Wilderness". Before seeing this film I saw a few reviews that referred to it as a "stoner movie", which turned me off of it a little bit. However I still saw it, and it's not a "stoner movie".This film did a good amount of things right, but it also did a few things wrong at the same time. I'll start with the good, as to not drag anyone down. The voice overs during the old footage of animals is hilarious, and the footage mixing is equally good. Some of the jokes are genuinely funny, albeit a little low-brow at times. Some of the actors played their roles perfectly. Steve Zahn plays Peter with a great passion, or as much passion as a guy like Peter could be played with. Jonah Hill(of Superbad fame) is great as a wise-cracking jack-ass who doesn't r ... " [More]
