Synopsis
This political satire of the situation comedy hit Comedy Central's airwaves in 2001, shortly after George W. Bush took office. The show starred Timothy Bottooms as the bumbling commander in chief, combining his job as leader of the free world with his position as the head of quirky household, in the style of a family sitcom. The series used silly antics to lampoon the president's less than eloquent manner, while lambasting popular television with a jerky laugh-track and gratuitous applause for the entrance of the first family's smart-talking bachelor-for-life neighbor. After running for just eight episodes, the show seemed likely to never be seen again when the nation's sense of humor was shaken by the events of September 11th. By 2006, however, phenomena such as the dragging Iraq war, global warming, Hurricane Katrina, a struggling economy and sky-rocketing oil prices pulled Bush's approval rating into the 30s, and the market was primed for That's My Bush! to finally be released on DVD. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide
