Co-writers and directors David Moreau and Xavier Palaud's French-language horror picture Them take audiences on a ride of sheer terror as a couple fight for their life when an assault on their home turns deadly. The story opens with the homicide of two Romanians -- a woman and her young daughter -- who crash their car along a rural road and are promptly butchered by a shadowy figure. Meanwhile, in Bucharest, schoolteacher Clémentine (Olivia Bonamy) climbs into her car and drives to the isolated mansion that she inhabits with partner Lucas (Michaël Cohen), not far from the site of the murders. Soon the couple overhears someone stealing their car, but a call to the police accomplishes little. The lovers gradually realize that an outsider is attempting to break into the house with homicidal intent. Thus begins a nasty, brutal battle of wills that can only end in the death of the victims or the assailants. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

"if you get a chance, check out this new French exercise in terror. Based on true events, a couple is tormented during a night of hell by several assailants. It’s a simple enough premise, but the direction, editing and use of sound and shadow are all top notch leaving the viewer completely breathless. The chase scenes are on par with the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the ending as shocking as I’ve seen in a long time. The acting is top notch by the two leads, Olivia Bonamy " [More]

"First off I am not a fan of "Fangoria". I more the independent filmzine, then anything! But this months issue caught me by surprise because it had a whole thing on, "French frights: Splatter's New Wave". I am huge fan of of the french gore. This wasnt a gore flick, more pyschological, then anything else. Saying that is was one of the scariest films of all times, like its listed on half dozen blogs and reviews, is pretty foolish, in my opinion. What I truly liked about it was the ending. " [More]

"You know, I for one am getting pretty tired of these slasher movies that tend to involve little more than watching someone get terrorised for eighty minutes. What happened to the big build-up followed by the quick, frantic kill? What happened to the protagonist actually surviving?I'll cut Them some slack, only because it's based on real-life events. You know, in the same way Wolf Creek, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lambs[More]

"I remember that opening scene in the vehicle and the killer is proceeding to do something with a skull. Now for alll you that have seen Haute Tension, you know what I am talking about? From that point on after he is done and discards the head out the window, the movie proceeds to get better with plot and gore! After seeing that and not being disapointed. I have proceeded to watch most films from France. Since [More]
