Directed by John Landis.
Starring Brian Benben.
A burnt-out cop demoted to working the "weird calls" desk finally finds a mystery worth solving in director John Landis' gore-drenched entry into Showtime's Masters of Horror series. Detective Dwight Faraday (Brian Benben) is a troubled cop who has been relegated to desk duty following a tragic accident that resulted in the death of his previous partner. When Detective Faraday learns that a number of local men have been brutally slaughtered by massive blunt-force trauma apparently delivered in the midst of sexual arousal, he seeks out the comely Native American woman (Cinthia Moura) with whom each of the unfortunate victims was last seen. Now, as results of the autopsies reveal that each of the corpses was viciously trampled by what the doctors and morticians believe to be hooves, Detective Faraday is forced to consider that the murderer may not be as human after all, but a vengeful seductress of legend who is said to scour the land by night in search of amorous victims. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Released: December 9, 2005Director: John Landis*****Just how low can this "horror" anthology go? Pretty low, if Deer Woman has anything to say about it. Put simply, men are being mutilated by someone or something while they are in a state of arousal. These men are no longer recognizable, with hoof prints implying they were trampled to death by a deer. Enter a detective (Dwight Faraday, played by Brian Benben) who is on the outs with his force and the only one to believe in a half-woman, half-deer creature terrorizing the area. And thus is the laughable story of Deer Woman. The whole idea behind horror, as far as I understand it, is to make the audience, well, scared. Show them something benign turning into deadly. Play on their fears, like dreams or the boogeyman in the dark. But a seemingly mythical half-woman, half-deer creature that stalks men for some reason we never really understand? What fear does that play up for the average man? Being killed because he's horny?May ... " [More]

"

1) Directed by a "Master" 2) Written by it's star. 3) "The handsome one" speaks Spanish
I've never seen this, but I need to. 3) is Chevy "the handsome one"? Have you guys seen SNL Season 1? He wasn't just "handsome" back then, he was handsome -- and really frickin funny, the funniest one on the show. 1) John Landis is a "master," isn't he?
1. John Landis did a couple of shows for "Masters of Horror" on Showtime. That is where I got the 'master' from. Masters of Horror: Deer Woman (2005)Masters of Horror: Family (2006) 2. Written by Chase. 3. The villian in the film is named El Guapo which translates to 'the handsome one' I have not seen the movie myself in years, but my childhood would not have been the same without it. I highly recommend it. " [More]

""Pelts",the most goriest masters of horror i have seen.Just got "Jenifer" and "Dance of the Dead" in the mail but i have not watched it yet. Will definitely check out "Cigarette Burns "after i watch jenifer and dance of the dead.Have you seen Deer Woman and Sick Girl?I liked Sick Girl better than Deer Woman. Also saw "imprint" just a few days ago.Definitely the most disturbing of all the masters of horror. It was a little to chatty and a the story a bit confusing and the drago character performance was not that cool.I did, however, like the torture scene. And those torturers (older lady )had very ugly teeth. "just saw deer woman last night and i thought the flick was so-so;the ending was not that cool for me and there was some cheesy effects on the movie;I thought the deer woman was a very beautiful lady minus the bottom part ofcourse(feet/hooves);The story was not too bad;i liked the case story with the bit of background mix of an indian legend.Guess, i tend to like stories that deal about fable/tales/legends.Would give this master story 3 out of 5 starsalso sick girl;i seemed to have liked this better than deer woman; In general,i like the story and the ending was o.k.Would give this master flick 3 1/2 out of 5 stars;(theres no half stars in spout ,so i officially gave it a 4 although it really feels more like a 3 1/2) " [More]
