Three twentysomethings learn the hard way about how to behave in a cemetery in this independent horror story. Harris (Dominic Purcell), Sid (Marcus Thomas), and Kira (Josie Maran) are three longtime friends who are reunited under unfortunate circumstances when their pal Devin dies in an auto accident. After attending Devin's funeral, the three stage an impromptu wake at a nearby roadhouse, and after lots of drinking they return to his grave to pay their final respects. Sid finds a note on Devin's grave which contains what appear to be lyrics to a song; the revelers begin singing the song and dancing around the cemetery, trampling the nearby graves. It isn't long before Devin's friends discover they've made a serious mistake; the poem they sang was actually a magic spell, and by reciting it as they disrespect the dead they've awakened angry spirits, who begin terrorizing them in their homes. Worst of all, paranormal investigator Vincent (Tchéky Karyo) informs Harris that there's only one sure way to stop the ghosts from bothering them -- death. The Gravedancers received its world premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

"I really actually liked this movie. I liked it a lot. I totally recomend this for any horror movie fan. It is a good indie film with decent scares. Probably the best of the 8 films to die for series (I've only seen four, so I really can't say much.) I totally recomend it though. " [More]

"I just watched the movie Dark Ride and have to say it is pretty good. I kind of guessed a few things really early in the movie but I really liked it. It was kind of like the old movie Fun House but much better. Always love movies about an escaped mental patient...This is a collection of really good Independent horror movies, they choose 8 films every year and show them in different cities all around the world. Most of them are really worth watching, some of them we have already talked about how good they are. Gravedancers was another one that I really liked, here are a few others on this site in the archives, http://www.horrorfestonline.co m/archive/2006/ you can also see what the 2007 movies are going to be which look really good. They show these films in November, I am definately going to get my all access pass this year. What are some of the ones that you have seen? How did you like them? " [More]

"Well, it's Monday the 16th. You know what that means....Friday was the 13th and Bad horror was had by all.We started out the evening with a slasher double feature, Silent Night, Deadly Night - Parts 1 and 2. The first movie is really kind of entertaining. A young boy sees his parents murdered by a man in a Santa Claus outfit. So he's naturally scared of Santa. Then he and his brother are sent to an orphanage run by an evil nun who teaches him that punishment is necessary. Flash forward to him at 18 working in a toy store. When Santa calls in on Christmas Eve, his boss forces him to wear the costume and fill Santa's shoes. So he snaps, says "Naughty" alot and goes on a killing spree. There are also lots of gratuitous breast shots. The second film is pretty worthless. The first 45 minutes are flashbacks to the first film told by the younger brother of the kid in the first movie. It seems that this guy also has problems with people being "Naughty." So he too snaps and goes ... " [More]

"Okay, I just finished watching one of the 8 films to Die for in 2006. It is called Gravedancers. It was REALLY good. I thought it was a lot of fun and a LOT of suspense. I really liked the woman ghost named Emma, so creepy. Anyway, if you get a chance to see it, I think you might like it. Of course some of the shots were a little cartoony and silly looking but just overlook that and sit back and enjoy (oh it is a bit on the gorey side in some spots but I don't think it was toooooo bad...) Has anyone else seen it? " [More]

"I've seen Unrest and The Gravedancers so far. I was really looking forward to this series of films after watching the trailers. But I was disappointed when I actually saw them. Unrest had a decent plot, but I felt cheated only because I expected much more from it. I felt the same about The Gravedancers. However, The Gravedancers did have some great ghosts that I enjoyed. The biggest problem I have with the series so far is that there was too much hype. I'll still watch the rest of the films, but I've lowered my expectations. If you can, watch the trailers before the film, I'm curious to see if anyone else feels the same. " [More]
