Directed by Richard Pepin.
Deep in the endless tunnels of a subterranean cave, an ancient species lies patiently in waiting for the creatures of the surface to step out of the sun in director Richard Pepin's horrific voyage into the black pit of the unknown. Rumor has it that a vast treasure lies hidden deep within an abandoned mine that sits just atop the vast system of caves, and a group of brave adventurers are determined to claim the mythical prize for themselves, if it does in fact exist. But something far more sinister awaits the unsuspecting treasure hunters beneath the surface, and as their harrowing journey takes an unexpectedly terrifying turn, they soon discover that humankind is no longer at the top of the food chain. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Sci-Fi Channel's Caved In: Prehistoric Terror is yet another killer-bug creature feature that premiered on the channel only to appear on DVD weeks later. As with most of their productions, there's zero shame to be found with their unveiling of the über-cheap-looking monsters. Big, brown CG cockroaches are thrown in all over the place in the flick, though the film does get extra-special bloody points for dispatching each of its victims in one highly grisly and entertaining way after another throughout the picture. Also elevating Caved are the whole slew of outlandish accents from the film's villains that are a delight to both the ears and funnybones every time they show up. For the most part, the dime-a-dozen plot meanders along with little surprise or creativity, though kudos to the production for knowing how to step up the monsters in the final explosive finale. Viewers that continually go back to these films won't be that disappointed with this C-grade stinker, especially if they know what they're in for upon going into it. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
