Directed by Todd Phillips.
Old School director Todd Phillips takes the reins for an updated remake of the 1960 comedy, this time starring Napoleon Dynamite's Jon Heder as Roger, a lovelorn meter reader who enrolls in a confidence-building class in order to win the love of his dream girl, and Billy Bob Thornton as Dr. P, the scheming, egomaniacal teacher who has designs of his own for the attractive young female. The rivalry soon spins out of control, as pranks and insults fly fast and furiously in a battle to determine the ultimate "guy's guy." ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Ok, so the first one was probably The Astonaut Farmer, but I don't know what Joe Don or Tommy Lee had to do with anything. But that must be the one with the rediculous villain in the middleThen School for ScoundrelsThen I guess The Ice HarvestBut my favorite is Bad SantaWell actually, I haven't seen the other ones " [More]

"This movie was just another "one of those movies." Nothing special, no honorable mentions, nothing. I will however say that David Cross did half-rid himself of the Napoleon Dynamite stereotype he had going on. Billy Bob Thornton did do his part in playing the strict instructor ass that he was. It had its moments, but its moments didn't save it from being an average movie. It wasn't a huge disappointment, but it was a disappointment nonetheless. If your looking for a "fall out of your seat" funny movie, this movie is not for you. If you are looking for a movie that will give you a small tickle of a laugh every now and then, then hey why not this one. Don't get your hopes up though. I give School for Scoundrels a 3 out of 5. "The day I rented this film, I rented "Infamous" and the first season of "Weeds". I only rented this film because it looked like one of those stupid joke movies like "Old School" or "Talledaga Nights" that my husband enjoys ... so I figured I'd be killing two birds with one stone: placating my husband's taste in films and getting in a short nap about midway through the movie. Well, I was pleasantly surprised here. Don't get me wrong, this will never be on your top 10 must see list, but it's not a complete write-off. Jon Heder manages to rise above his Napoleon Dynamite persona as an average guy who would be considered a bit namby-pamby by the average he-man male. His job as a "meter maid" isn't exactly putting extra hair on his chest either. And then to make his situation even more desperate, he's also in love with a neighbor who is roommates with the acidic Sarah Silverman. After being rejected for the third ... " [More]

"Overall, this movie is at least worthy of a rental or matinee. There are several laugh out loud moments, but the film is fairly predictable and the racial stereotypes were a bit much. Worst of all, not enough David Cross! " [More]
