Directed by Uwe Boll.
Uwe Boll's fantasy adventure film In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale stars Jason Statham as Farmer, a simple man from the Kingdom of Ehb whose goal as the story begins is to care for his family. However, when the power hungry Gallian (Ray Liotta) invades the kingdom, Farmer must abandon his simple existence in order to rescue his wife (Claire Forlani), and save his King (Burt Reynolds). This film is a cinematic adaptation of the video game Dungeon Siege. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

"Ok where do I begin to describe this movie called In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale… Well I decided that I wanted to see this movie because it has Jason Statham who is a complete bad ass and I have yet to see a movie he was in that wasn’t great, well until now. In the Name of the King seemed to have the budget and special effects from the Hercules TV show with Kevin Sorbo (the acting was almost as bad as well). But what do you expect when you cast people like Burt Reynolds as a heroic king and Matthew Lillard as the Duke Fallow (whenever I see this guy I can only think of Brock Hudson from another great movie She's All That. Oh I forgot, the movie starts out the same as the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (well similar), the Farmer’s (Jason Statham’s) family is killed by these beasts called Crug. The Crug are basically a rip off of the Orcs from Lord of the Rings, and are created by the Maji (Wizard) Gallian. Anyways the farmer whose ... " [More]

"By now, I’m sure everyone has read about the petition to stop Uwe Boll from making more movies. I don’t know how long the thing has been around, but it got a huge boost over the weekend thanks to a FEARnet interview with Dr. Boll, in which he said it would take a million signatures to convince him to quit filmmaking. Various blogs picked up the story and thanks to support almost webwide, the number has gone up from 18,000 to more than 60,000 (it was apparently only 40,000 this morning). As New York’s Vulture blog points out, that is a whole lot more people than went to see Boll’s film In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, which makes me sort of dubious and disappointed. If you’re not going to his movies anyway, why do you care if he keeps on making them? Personally, I would expect most blogs would favor him continuing his career. He gives us all something to write about, and on slow days like this that’s something to be thankful for. Vulture also notes that while the petit ... " [More]

"There are a number of accomplished actors who have worked with infamously bad filmmaker Uwe Boll: Sir Ben Kingsley; Geraldine Chaplin; Clint Howard. And many of those actors have worked with some great filmmakers. Yet who would think to ask Kingsley how Boll compares to Spielberg or Polanski, or Chaplin how Boll compares to David Lean or Robert Altman, or Howard how Boll compares to his brother Ron. Well, Shawn Adler of MTV Movies Blog decided that it would be really amusing if he asked Leelee Sobieski to comment on any similarities between Boll and Stanley Kubrick. Surprisingly, she managed to squeeze out a decent answer — at least considering she’s on camera to wholeheartedly promote her and Boll’s film In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale and has to say something nice about the director. Sobieski may not be the best person to ask, though. She was only 15 when she appeared in Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut, and that film isn’t even considered to be on par with the filmmaker’s ... " [More]

"My goodness this looks so bad, it's one of those "can't wait to see what a trainwreck this is!" type of things. Burt Reynolds as the king? A puffy Ray Liota as an over the top bad guy named Gallian? Leelee Sobieski? That dude from Snatch? Cheesy looking special effects and action sequences? Simultaneously trying to cash in by basing it on a video game that I for one have never heard of, and ripping off Lord of the Rings, complete with the helicopter fly-by "heros walking on a mountain ridge" shot? Sweet. " [More]
