Synopsis
The popular British children's sci-fi fantasy series The Tomorrow People was launched on April 30, 1973, with Nicholas Young, Sammie Winmill and Stephen Salmon respectively cast as John, Carol and Kenny, three youthful "Homo Superiors" who used their heightened powers of ESP, telekinesis and "jaunting" (aka teleportation) to protect the world from villainy. This inaugural season contains three separate serials, the first being the 5-episode "The Slave of Jedikiah", wherein the three protagonist help the newest member of their exclusive "club", the telekinetic Stephen Jameson (Peter Vaughn-Clarke), adjust to the responsibilities of his peculiar powers; they also try to protect Stephen from the wrath of the evil Cyclops (Robert Bridges), who has dispatched his shapeshifting robot Jedikah (Roger Bizley) to wreak havoc on London. This is followed by the 4-episode "The Medusa Strain", wherein Jedikiah, now under the command of Count Raboski (Roger Booth), sets about to steal rare historical artifacts. This adventure requires the Tomorrow People to hopscotch through time and space, with assistant of the adolescent Peter the Time Guardian (Richard Speight). Wrapping up the series' first season is the 4-episode "The Vanishing Earth". In this one, the Tomorrow People search for a kidnap victim in a fake haunted house, where they have a dangerous confrontation with a brace of alien criminals who are destroying the balance of nature via their illegal mining activities. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
