Directed by Joe Ritter.
Beach Balls harkens back to the teen surf films of the 1960s, with the only addition being an abundance of nudity and profanity. Even the parents are portrayed the same stereotypical way as in the 1960s films. The routine plot has teenager Charlie Harrison (Phillip Paley) looking for hot fun in the sun amidst a bevy of bikini-clad babes. Charles Gilleran plays an Erich Von Zipper character named Babcock who leads a gang of troublemakers. The film had a limited release in May of 1988 before winding up in video stores. Rock music is provided by Douglas R. Starr. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

Late-night cable served as a home for this slice of '80s teen hijinks for well over a decade, giving this middle-barreled comedy a much longer shelf live than maybe it deserved. While certain audiences will have fond memories of the flick, there's little here that lives up under closer scrutiny. One or two classic gags are supplied by the crusty punks and muscle-loving jocks in the ensemble cast, but the rest of the flick is hampered by a lead idiot that's one year away from being upstaged by Zach in Saved by the Bell. Beachballs is worthy of note for co-starring the gum-chewing test subject in Ghostbusters, Steven Tash, and for director Joe Ritter, whom genre audiences might recognize for co-scripting the original Toxic Avenger. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
