Directed by Julian Richards.
Julian Richards' The Last Horror Movie centers on Max, a wedding photographer who, at night, with the assistance of a homeless person, makes brutal home movies of him killing a variety of innocent people. Max often addresses the camera in a chilling and flamboyant manner. His psychotic state grows even more toxic as he begins to consider how the people watching his films are reacting. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

"*flexes fingers, cracks knuckles, starts typing with wild-eyed, manic fever*There are, as the good doctor pointed out, movies that exist for no other specific reason than to portray, not necessarily encourage or glamorize, violence. Some necessarily contain it as a requisite for the story and not so much to pander to the baser of viewer instincts; others subsist on it as the basis of their storylines but only as a contrivance designed to justify the creation and depiction of violent acts. The Last Horror Movie - Max, a wedding photographer, moonlights as a wickedly off-the-hook, random serial killer. He beats their heads in with baseball bats and meat tenderizers, stabs them with knives twenty or thirty times, this, that and all sorts of sundry savage violence and furious anger. It features almost a dozen direct episodes of physical and mental brutality exacted under no guises and with no ulterior motives but graphic intensity of horrifying violence. It's played up as a docume ... " [More]

"There are certain movies that are all about the violence! (insert your favorite horror movie here) And then there are some which are more 'drama' but with at least one or two really violent scenes for an 'attention-grabber' . In other words, in some cases the violence helps to tell the story, and in other cases, the violence IS the story... here are some examples... The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and ALL of the Clint Eastwood westerns ... Up to, and including, Unforgiven ... ALL of the Bruce Lee movies and most of the Steven Segal movies and Jean Claude Van Damme and Don 'the dragon' Wilson and Jeff Speakman , etc ... No. My favorite violent movies are the ones about real warriors... THAT is what it's all about! Movies like The Warriors and The Wild Bunch and The Magnificent Seven and The 13th Warrior and 300 are excellent examples of movies which are all about the violence... not to mention the Kill Bill ... "Honestly, it's been a fair bit since I've seen it, but I do recall a few things, one of them being that it was extremely difficult to discern any "messages" at all. I've found Cronenberg films (with the distinguished due exception of Dead RIngers) to be characteristically pointless. Existenz was frustratingly inconclusive, meandering and underdeveloped; Naked Lunch was...everything (disorganized, complicated and impossible to follow and Videodrome: incomplete, convoluted and frustrating. So, as far as its messages on violence and its role in media and popular culture including television and film, more meaningful, direct and coherent stories on this, I reference The Running Man and, perhaps more to the point, the brutally fearless Series 7: The Contenders and The Last Horror Movie. They more purposefully address the issues concerned than Videodrome, and their stories are complete, fully thought out and provocative. " [More]

"This was an unexpected treat. I have to say that even though I watched it on DVD it still had an impact. If you have the chance you need to find a copy on VHS and watch that. It has an really good effect that way. I will no doubt recommend this film to anyone who enjoys horror. Its not to often anymore that I have that tingle rush up my spine at the conclusion of a film but this reminded me of why I love horror films. " [More]
