Directed by David Zucker.
Spoof series torch-bearer and Airplane! mastermind David Zucker steps back into the captain's chair for yet another round of cinematic shenanigans in the latest installment of the Scary Movie franchise, this time mocking such frightful blockbusters as Saw, War of the Worlds, The Village, and The Grudge. An alien invasion threatens to wipe out the entire human race, but not if Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) and her nymphomaniac pal Brenda Meeks (Regina Hall) have any say in the matter. With the clock counting down for all of humankind and the extraterrestrial invasion about to begin, the fearless but slightly dunderheaded heroines are joined by a series of celebrity guests including Dr. Phil, Carmen Electra, Chris Elliot, Shaquille O'Neal, and, of course, Leslie Nielsen in ensuring that the planet remains free of the alien menace and prepared for yet another installment in the over-the-top, pop-culture deflating satire series. Although two versions of this film officially exist (a PG-13 one and an "Unrated and Uncensored" one - evidently they skipped the R version) the unrated cut only reportedly features about 3 extra minutes of screen time, devoted to jiggling and bouncing breast implants. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Scary Movie 4It's funny that very rarely to I ever even consider watching the sequel to a horror movie that I consider to be less than really great. In fact I usually don't seek out too many horror movies because I find most of the mediocre. It's funny then that I keep watching this series of fairly mediocre comedy movies that poke fun at those same very mediocre horror series.Actually I can't remember why I ever saw the first Scary Movie. I can't even remember if I saw it at a theater or on DVD. I know I have seen Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and thought that was amusing (although I was wasted and had no idea what it was at the time) which was made by the same people.I think I found the original Scary Movie to be somewhat amusing, but knew the sequel looked horrible in the previews. Somehow my friend Tom convinced me to go see it with him. I think he even paid for my ticket because no one else would go with ... " [More]

"I saw Scary Movie 4 very recently and i thought it was a total waste of money. It's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I'm still wondering why I even rented it from the DVD place. What was I thinking? LOL " [More]

For the fourth installment of the Scary Movie franchise, the reigns were handed over to the famed Zucker Bros., who just so happen to pull off a more consistently funny exercise in absurdist humor than their previous so-so third entry. Once again, the duo play their hand with far less vulgarity and more teen-friendly than the first two entries, which is very much a part of why the film hit so big ($40 million on opening weekend is indeed a large opening for any kind of comedy). For the most part, their lampooning works across-the-board, with shot-for-shot recreations of blockbusters gone by, setting the scene for predictably wild sight gags and witty wordplay. With gags hitting the audience at least every two minutes, the flick manages to keep its steam going right up until its riotous finale, featuring a parody of Tom Cruise and Oprah that really shouldn't work, but does, thanks to the filmmakers' willingness to push the gags to the point of ridiculous lunacy. Best intended for audiences not afraid to work out their silly funny bones for a breezy hour and a half, Scary Movie 4 is an infectious and infantile horror romp that doesn't stop, which for its target audience, is just what the doctor ordered. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, All Movie Guide
