Shot back-to-back with The Matrix Reloaded, the third and final installment of Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski's sci-fi action saga picks up where the second film left off. Neo (Keanu Reeves) remains unconscious in the real world, caught in a mysterious subway station that lies between the machine world and the Matrix, and Bane (Ian Bliss) is still a conduit for Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving), who continues to grow out of control, threatening to destroy both worlds. Meanwhile, as the sentinels get closer and closer to Zion, the citizens of the earth's last inhabited city prepare for the inevitable onslaught. By bargaining with The Merovingian (Lambert Wilson), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) are able to free Neo who, after meeting with The Oracle (Mary Alice stepping in for the late Gloria Foster), decides that he must leave Zion and head for the machine mainframe. As Neo and Trinity venture into the dangerous machine world, with hopes of stopping both the machines and Agent Smith, their comrades in Zion attempt to fight off the attacking sentinels with the odds stacked greatly against them. "Remember when trailers would name-appropriately trail the movie? Me neither. I don’t think anyone does. But occasionally trailers are still shown after the main feature. Back to the Future Part III was advertised at the end of Part II, and The Matrix Reloaded ended with a preview of The Matrix Revolutions. As next installments of cliff-hanging series, though, these sequels were like the old serials from which trailers received their name (in one of multiple explanations). I suggest that previews of big movies starring the main actor of the film you’re currently seeing also follow this model. Why? Because after watching this teaser (boy does it tease right) trailer for next summer’s Terminator Salvation, which is showing with The Dark Knight and which stars TDK’s Christian Bale, I’m too distracted by my excitement for the nex season to fully concentrate on the blockbuster at hand. "The Science Fiction Top 10 is notable for having what is arguably the least disputable number one on all of these lists in 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Even after two decades, the film remains gorgeous and convincing-looking, and still capable of provoking debate about technology, the nature of intelligence, and humanity's identity and place in the universe. It has left an indelible mark on how the future, and how space and space travel, is visualized and imagined, especially, but not exclusively, on film. It's a masterful work, and it's difficult for me to think of a more deserving selection for the top of this list. "So many fun little features to choose from, where ever shall I begin? Undeniably the best (or just the most pervasive) films about living in a post-apocalyptic society are: Battle Royale The Matrix Mad Max, The Road Warrior & Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome 12 Monkeys & La Jetee Delicatessen & The City of Lost Children Those straddling the line with extreme lovers and haters: Reign of Fire Tank Girl The Omega Man I Am Legend The Day After Tomorrow Waterworld Akira Doomsday Southland Tales The Matrix Reloaded & The Matrix Revolutions And those that have been cast into the gallows of film history: Titan A.E. "1&2 - the matrix sequels (The Matrix Reloaded (2003)&The Matrix Revolutions (2003)) - all action with not much depth and originality that is even close to the original;matrix reloaded bored me almost put me to sleep when i saw it originally in the theater.3 - Night at the Museum (2006) was not even the slighest been funny to me;very childish humor;what a diappointment especially for ben stiller4 - Babel (2006) - overrated5 - Brokeback Mountain (2005) - Very disappointing story and highly overrated; i do not believe it deserved an oscar 6 - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) - way long ; too much going on in the story,not to much focus in a major story line; bored me; disapponted because i liked Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) " [More]

"I actually thought that Reloaded was somewhere halfway between the original movie which I liked pretty well and Revolutions which I thought was fairly bad. I can't remember why exactly though. I think it had to do with a lot of things including depending on empathy for characters that were new and just thrown at you and that really acted unsympathetically to me at least. " [More]

"Final episode of the matrix trilogy really wraps it. At least for me. A lot of ideas were in my head, how all of it is going to end and none of them were correct. I think the ending works wery well and is logical. I've had a lot of discussions with my friends about the trilogy plus the ending and they do seem to disagree with me about this fact. I think this was a great ending for a great movie trilogy. Highly recommended material for a movie night with friends, six hours straight of Matrix. I know, I've tried it :) " [More]

"The Whole Ten Yards--another cheap sequel I bought at the FAMILY DOLLAR (just like Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and--you guessed it--THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS)--was a relation of a rather ingenious situation.Matthew Perry's character is just 'along for the ride' of Bruce Willis's hitman-character's fortune-plan.While I'm sure The Whole Nine Yards was also a good movie, you don't need to have seen it to catch enough of its 'gist' leading into the plot of The Whole Ten ... i.e. The Whole Ten might hold some sort of "completion" of The Whole Nine, but you don't need to know that there was ever Nine to enjoy the Ten (unlike REVOLUTIONS, for which you need to have seen RELOADED to "get"). "I got the DVD and totally nerded-out on it, so I don't see it as 'having the "heart and soul"-ending' of the story ... on the extra-features, they say a lot about how the story didn't really 'end' on the movie screen---which you can see in the plot of the online game (which I would link you to here, but that would destroy my believability here---you would see me write this and KNOW I'm trying to get you to buy the game, that I don't care how you feel about THE MATRIX.)If you saw RELOADED, you know that 'it doesn't really matter what [Neo does], the Machines will survive.' So REVOLUTIONS is just for 'the fulfillment of Neo's karma.' I.e. 'His reason for living' was to choose humanity's survival over the Machines' attempt to deny us what little existence we have.He did so without destroying the machines. He cancelled out an error in the machines which he inadvertantly may have put there in the first pla ... " [More]

"My list is more guilty pleasures as actors, not films. I could probably make Top 5 lists out of each of these people and more... but here goes: 1. Sylvester Stallone: Rocky II, III & IV. I don't include the first because it's a great movie and I am not ashamed of liking it. I didn't include V because it's crap. And I haven't seen Rocky Balboa so I can't say one way or the other. Also Cop Land.2. Arnold Schwarzenegger's 80s (and early 90s) catalog defines guilty pleasure over and over. I hate that I like Twins, Terminator, The Running Man, Total Recall, Predator. However, I will proudly say that I like T2. Now if only T3 had been watchable...3. Keanu Reeves - Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure/Bogus Journey, Matrix: Reloaded/Revolutions (the first wasn't a guilty pleasure in my book), Point Break , Feeling Minnesota, My Own Private Idaho, The Devil's Advocate, The Watcher.I could almost combine 4 - 5 and some of them probably aren't ... "Those darn prepositions. It's easy to get hung up on them.I think it would be easier to criticize a movie like this if it seemed to carry more pretense. Richard Linklater has said that the construction of the movie is just ideas and scenes that he either could never find ways to fit into other films or were meant for other films but never made the final cut. It's a hodge podge script-wise, and it's that way stylistically. Almost every scene was animated by a different artist. It's really just a series of short films that are loosely connected. Luckily the plot that connects them is just as mysterious and ethereal in a way. This is as opposed to some other films like Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2 which seemed like a bunch of stylistically different short films but were often forced too hard into a more tangible narrative. Or if you look at theme as opposed to style, it's opposed to the Matrix movies, especially Reloaded and Revolutions which tried ... " [More]

Endlessly disputable in its ideals, execution, and most importantly, audiences' expectations, the final act in the Matrix trilogy dares to deliver what classic science fiction has delved into for years -- human understanding. Ironic then that for the most part, the filmmakers' intent has remained universally misunderstood. The second film was so poorly received that by the time this entry was released, most outside of tight knit fan communities had lost interest. And just how does it end? With rousing action sequences sure to have audiences whooping and hollering?... Hardly, though the film's two big set pieces should, by all means, be that way. Instead, laced with layers of emotional connectivity, the powerhouse scenes of bridled geek joy transcend their money shots and shoot for the inevitable spiritual end that the series had been promising. In this way, Revolutions is a hard sell for any audience. The third film is weightier than it's predecessors and ends on a subdued note that is light years away from the series popcorn days of old. Still, if one stands back and looks at the entire trilogy, there are undeniable themes that make the backbone of the series....The Matrix ends with love causing a miracle. Reloaded ends with love causing a miracle. Revolutions ends with love affecting everything and creating a new world.
