Lure of the Circus (1918)

Synopsis
The powers that be at Universal in general, and director J.P. McGowan in particular, apparently counted on the popularity of serial star Eddie Polo to stretch a thin circus plot over 18 installments, but they miscalculated and Lure of the Circus proved the beginning of Polo's decline. According to some reports, cliffhanger solutions were even more unbelievable than usual, the bound and gagged star escaping bomb blasts and car crashes with little or no explanation. Eileen Sedgwick co-starred and the serial was penned by William Wing and Hope Loring. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
