Synopsis
An urban Canadian meat eater wrestles with his carnivorous conscience after moving to the countryside to grow his own livestock and experience the life of a farmer firsthand in this documentary that seeks to explore the grey zone between animal lovers and animal eaters. Jason Young likes meat; but as strong as his craving for a cheeseburger gets, his love for the animals that will eventually end up on his plate is equally as compelling as his hearty appetite. Having relied on mass manufactured foods for his entire live, Young and his girlfriend Julia White decide to truly take ownership over their diet and lifestyle by abandoning the hustle and bustle of Toronto to purchase a farm in Nova Scotia - where his will personally raise and slaughter his own livestock. Though his friends and neighbors advise the fledgling farmer not to bond with his animals, Young cannot help but forming a connection with the barnyard critters that populate his farm in a bid to give them the best life possible before they meet their inevitable end. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
