"Iris (2001) is the story of Iris Murdock, the famous British novelist and intellectual, and her professor husband, and their relationship as she slowly succumbs to Alzheimer’s disease. Several critics said you had to read a Murdock novel before you’d appreciate the movie, but I did not think so at all. The thee actors are top notch: Judi Dench is perfect; Kate Winslett plays the young Iris very well; and James Broadbent is brilliant as Iris’s husband. Director David Eyre has made a movie that stays with you. " [More]
