"In a good way. If you're looking for deep, meaningful, intellectual entertainment, this isn't the film for you. It is, however, a well-paced, entertaining disaster movie. As always with Emmerich films, the special effects are fantastic. Where he surpasses his previous work is in the pacing of 2012 as well as the apocalyptic scope of THIS disaster. Instead of a big special effects intro that peters out into the human part of the story, Emmerich balances the human story and the disaster all the way through 2012. Call me sick, but I find something very satisfying in watching the entire city of Las Vegas tumble into a gaping red maw of fault line. The details of the plot require a certain suspension of disbelief, to be sure, but the acting and dialogue are plausible in context. The film also makes an everyman-style attempt to ask some moral questions regarding who lives and who dies. Ultimately, it's accessible film making. I can be as much a movie snob as the next person, and ... " [More]

"Whole cinemy was laughting. Beside effects nothing else worth watching this movie... C'mon, USA president is only moving amoung the bodies on the street waiting for the end; half of the world is destroyed and Indian professor just called his friend on mobile; few minutes before disaster they hug eachother for a minut; main caracter is wearing tie whole movie... cheesy :) " [More]

"In 2012, cataclysmic earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tidal waves send John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Woody Harrelson and Thandie Newton racing across the globe toward a modern-day Noah’s ark. Director Roland Emmerich says he was inspired by the ancient Mayan doomsday prophecy and other jittery theories as he prepared to go back to the future. “I’m glad every two years visual effects take a leap forward,” says the disaster master. “But it all starts with a concept, not effects.” And that concept is? “The characters have to get aboard a ship or they’re dead. The government people all know what’s happening and have moral discussions about whether they’re doing the right thing. John Cusack plays one of the people who don’t know, and he views the disasters as a way to reconcile his life. Then there’s Woody Harrelson, the crazy guy in the middle who thinks it’s all about spaceships. There’s a balance betwe ... " [More]

"It was many moons ago when they came for us out of the blue. Their giant spaceships rained down from the Heavens and we finally had an answer to the question of whether or not we were alone. However, we quickly learned that these otherworldly visitors were no friends of mankind. In what has been verified as the greatest aerial battle in the history of mankind--we turned back our alien oppressors on Independence Day. How experts missed this danger is beyond me... Then, years later, we were told that the world we knew, the planet we take for granted like a dime-store hooker, was not going to take our bullshit anymore. In what historians are calling the "Day After Tomorrow" (two days from now) event; the citizenry of much of the world had to evade frost as though it were an advancing predator. Scientists were ignored, hippies disregarded, and the common people paid the price for our ignorance. We will never again forget what a bitch mother nature can really " [More]

"I wanted to go and watch a nice end of the world movie, 2012, only to realize that it was a continuation of the themes that have flooded out TV (but not only..) media in the past months. In a nutshell, 2012 teaches us: - the world is going to end on the 21st of December of 2012. They devote a few minutes to explain why. Zero time to explain how come that the Maya knew about it way before us. Not important, I guess - Obama is a good president that is trying to save the world. But with a twist! The African-American president, which is Obviously Obama since we are in 2009, dismisses the white aide to listen to the much more human and knowledgeable two African-American colleagues. This is just a beginning, and there is a big twist! - Since Obama is such a big character to be supported by a single actor, it is intelligently spread across several characters, namely: & " [More]

"I didnt dare buy a pirated cd of it coz i really planned to watch it on the big screen! And now, my long wait paid off. . id been waiting for this movie for almost 3 months already and finally it's dominating the cinemas now! blockbuster, i should say! it was my 1st time to watch a movie alone. . sad? yeah. . but i was wrong.. coz i realized lately, it's fun to watch alone. . much focused on the movie..rather than entertaining a companion. . It's a story of grief, love, sacrifice, heroism, bit of humor. . perfect for a family. . i cried twice coz i can't imagine myself saying good-bye to ur loved ones and having a devastating end.. i have to admit..the first part was boring for me but it became intense as it went on. . it was really frightening. . conscience-bothering. . and mind-disturbing. . dont know if we have to believe it..but one thing is for sure..this world will end. . People caused this catastrophe that's why we are tasked to cease our wrongdoings. .reawaken. . there ... " [More]

"I have seen the movie yesterday and didn't like it that much. It seemed pretty fake to me like, the hundreds of meteors falling out of the sky just when they were talking about the end of the world! Though if you dont look at how silly some parts are the movie would be a good one to pick in the cinema near you. Roland's "The Day After Tomorrow" is still MY favorite and I highly recommend it.
