Directed by Brent Maddock
It's back to Perfection, NV, for munitions-crazed Graboid hunter Burt Gummer (Michael Gross), who has made a career out of chasing and slaying the burrowing "sub-terrestrial" creatures that pop out of the ground and eat whomever happens to be standing there. This time Gummer is assisted by wisecracking cowboy Jack Sawyer (Shawn Christian), who runs a shabby theme park based on the critters, and Jodi Chang (Susan Chuang), whose convenience store is unfortunately at Graboid Ground Zero. Gummer and company have their hands full this time, when the oversized worms have mutated to a new state -- not only do they burrow, but they have wings and can fly like carnivorous dragons. Does Gummer have enough shells in his artillery cannons to knock them all from the sky? ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

lost interest.
This direct-to-video sequel has all the pluses going for it of the previous adventures, not the least of which include good energy, funny dialogue, effective special effects, and a cast that is clearly enjoying hearty bonhomie and esprit du corps. It was daring for director Brent Maddock to enhance the creatures by giving them dragon-like wings, but it works very well and the computer generated effects are convincingly integrated. Michael Gross, game as always as the goofy Gummer, and Shawn Christian, who is a manly version of Greg Kinnear, make for an affable team. The overall production is imbued with wry wit and a giddy silliness that lurks below the surface like the Graboids, springing up to catch you with an unexpected joke. But when it comes time to portray the monsters as lethal creatures, there's tension enough to build suspense. One wonders how long the franchise can continue, but at least these three chapters have proven to be superior low-budget horror-comedies. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
