Synopsis
This video is part of a three-volume set from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, in honor of the institution's 125th anniversary. Museum director Philippe de Montebello leads the viewer on a tour to appreciate the treasures housed inside. This program is an inside look at the benefactors, whose vision and generosity made the museum what it is today. With archival photographs and film footage, the viewer goes to the homes of patrons such as J.P. Morgan and Benjamin Altman to see the art works that once graced their homes before they were offered as gifts to the museum. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, All Movie Guide
