With a father (Charles U. Davis) who plays both the stock market and poker, and a mother (Madge Orlamond) whose passion is bridge, it's no wonder that Carl Fremont (William Roselle) grows up to be a gambling addict. He neglects his studies, his business and his girl, Nita (Lucille Taft), for the card games he loves. Eventually his addiction gets him thrown out of his parents' home and he suffers hard times until his friend Zimar (William Stieff) returns from a year-long trip to India. He has become a mystic and promises Nita that he will cure Carl. He puts the wayward gambler into an hypnotic trance and shows him the likely consequences of his actions, which wind up with him in the electric chair.
