This video features episode eight from the second season of the award-winning PBS television series hosted by John Viehman and Annie Getchell. In this installment, Viehman and Getchell explore the islands of Maine's Penobscot Bay by sea kayak. They camp at abandoned granite quarries that once provided stone for much of the United States, including such landmarks as the Brooklyn Bridge and the Washington Monument. They also visit Hurricane Island, where there once stood a quarry town complete with a company store, boarding houses, and cutting sheds. Now the island is home to one of the main branches of the internationally renowned Outward Bound School. ~ Steve Blackburn, All Movie Guide
