In Poland during the late '70s, a farmer discovered a vodka bottle hidden in his cellar with bits of paper inside. When the news breaks, Ya'akov Gutterman remembers that his late father kept a record of his Holocaust experiences, hiding them from the Germans. A Bottle in the Cellar tells the story of Gutterman, a painter and teacher, as he returns to Poland in 1994 to see if the bottle holds his history. He finds the handwritten notes and identifies them as his father's, uncovered after 50 years, and revealing the true account of his boyhood in Krakow. ~ Alice Day, All Movie Guide
