This film biography of Spanish artist Pablo Picasso, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, looks at pivotal moments in his life that shaped his character and art. Among the events discussed are the bombing of Guernica and the suicide of Picasso's close friend Carlos Casajernas. Taking 13 days between 1881 and 1935, the film looks at major turning points. There are interviews with his contemporaries, as well as with Picasso himself in his home in Paris. Archival film footage, diaries, and his own paintings tell the story. Picasso said, "Everything I love goes into my paintings. Too bad if nothing goes together." The film puts the disparate pieces together to form a tapestry of the artist's life.
