Directed by Donovan Cook.
Based very loosely on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas, this direct-to-video Disney version of The Three Musketeers features Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as janitors who become pawns in a scheme by Peg-leg Pete to take the throne away from Princess Minnie. The threesome works together in order to save the princess and the kingdom. The film features a half-dozen new songs, some of which are based on classical works by famous composers like Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

Review by All Movie Guide
The direct-to-video The Three Musketeers is a fairly entertaining little cartoon, but even the children that are its target audience are unlikely to list it among their favorite Disney outings -- or even be able to remember too terribly much about it ten minutes after they've finished watching it. Musketeers is diverting enough, but for the most part it's unmemorable; the only moments that really stick in the mind are the songs, and that's mainly due to the fact that they are familiar classical pieces to which lyrics have been set. The story is not really based upon the familiar Dumas novel, settling instead to simply take the idea of musketeers and the setting and grafting a "new" story onto it -- although in fact there's really not much that is new to the plot. Still, the story is told with gusto, there are a handful of good gags, plenty of action sequences, an appropriate message for young viewers and, despite it being only a DVD/video offering, animation that has the professional mark of the Disney studio. And, of course, it features a trio of animated characters that, even today, are a pleasure to be with. Not a terriby good film, but certainly an amiable enough way to pass an hour. ~ Craig Butler, All Movie Guide
