Synopsis
This video features a mother seal teaching her baby harbor seal how to ride the currents by carefully maneuvering his fins. Notice the difficulties faced by the young seal as he confronts the strong water currents and slippery rocks that can quickly separate him from his mother. See how eagerly the young seal pup tries to learn how to dive for food and simply ride along with the rhythms of the water. The gray whale calf is also featured, trying hard to mimic all his mother does. Initially, the young calf stays in the safer lagoon waters of its birth. Eventually, he accompanies his mother on the 5,000-mile journey from the warmer waters of Mexico to the much colder ones just off the shores of Alaska. This is the longest migration completed by any of the world's mammals. ~ Elizabeth Smith, All Movie Guide
