Although air travel is regarded as a safe means of transport, there are still enough accidents to give pause. One may wonder how much riskier plane trips were in the past. This program, Air Disasters, Vol. 1: The Facts, combines vivid footage of actual crashes with accompanying graphics to relate the history of catastrophic events in the air. The filming technique puts the viewer very close to the action, and the overall effect can be unsettling, although the program refrains from showing human injury.
