Synopsis
Whooping cough, or pertussis, is still found is children, even though most American infants receive the DTP (diptheria, tetanus, pertussis) vaccine. It is very contagious, and begins with cold-like symptoms, with the cough worsening into prolonged spells that end in the characteristic whooping sound when the child gasps for breath. The illness can last for a month or more, and can require a lengthy convalescent period. Medical experts appear on Whooping Cough, and talk about the use of antibiotics for treatment, and the DTaP, which promises less side effects than the original vaccine. ~ Alice Day, All Movie Guide
