A rogue band of Jem'Hadar attacks DS9, prompting Sisko to mount a counteroffensive. While pursuing their assailants into the Gamma Quadrant, Sisko and his officers rescue a Jem'Har squadron that has also been attacked by the renegades. Despite the rescuees' avowed loyalty to the Dominion, Sisko forms an uneasy alliance with the Jem'Hadar in order to prevent the renegades from getting their hands on a spectacularly powerful weapon.
