Hilarious at times, edited perfectly, and with brilliant performances from every cast member, especially Kevin Spacey. This deserved the Oscar.

This is one of those films you watch that you just enjoy because it is so original, it is like watching the first movie you've ever seen. And when you watch a British movie and enjoy it, that's a good feeling too. =)

This has a great closing scene and it's one of the better James Cagney films. White Heat seems to get more recognition but this film is superior, with a moral backbone and a talented cast, even for its 'stagey' time period.

Aside from the use of 'you look so beautiful....to me....' in the middle and end credits, this is one of ym favorite gangster movies. Al Pacino shines as always, sympathetic as a gangster trying to get out of the game. An unrecognisable Sean Penn is as sleazy as he'll ever be, and the scene in the pool hall at the beginning is memorable and exciting.

A masterpiece - tragic and engaging. It's a true story. It's like Bugsy Malone - that other child gangster movie - except that was a campy musical and this is real life, happening right now. This film is shot in amazing and original ways, filled with characters you love and hate.

Two of the greatest actors, Johnny Depp and Al Pacino, become friends and are ripped apart by betrayal in this gangster film. Anne Heche is one of its only downfalls, but she doesn't interest me ever so I'm a bit biased there.

The funniest movie ever (besides Shaun of the Dead, Zoolander, Anchorman, and Billy Madison, which I haven't included because they're already everyone else's favorites). If it's red, then it's not a barn.

Possibly my favorite movie of all time, because it is about filmmaking. Like a lot of near perfect films, this is funny and tragic at the same time. I don't think I will ever tire of watching this film. It studies the life of an optomistic fellow who ignorantly pursues becoming as respected as Orson Welles - but it turns out he is the worst director of all time.

Another reason to love Tim Burton. Original, heartwarming, amusing, and charming. A good date movie if your date isn't lame.

Father and son issues are brought into a franchise that can do no wrong. Unless Lucas screws it up in 2009 when he releases number 4.

Tarantino is the master of all genres, and here he displays entertainment to the max. The film is bright and gorgeous to look at, and the violence isn't as bad as everyone says. It's like reading a comic book.

This is better the second time, because you're no longer expecting more non-stop action like in the first episode. Instead you get an intelligent script played out by confident actors who love Tarantino's words as much as we do.

It really is a great adventure, surpassed by Raiders of the Lost Ark, but still remains enjoyable even in its old age.

This films confirms our belief in the talents of Kevin Spacey, Russel Crowe and, particularly, Guy Pierce, who is yet to shine as much as he does here. This is the only period gangster movie which quite captures the magic of the film noirs of the 40s.

Come on, this film is cool. Mel Gibson before he went all serious. It's the type of action you can just sit back and enjoy, and not care much about what happens...but caring just enough to want to see the end.

South African baddies go up against Riggs and Murtaugh, while the two cops give us a rehash of their original antics. It's not meant to be better or worse than the first, just more action fun.

Another addition to this great action series. I didn't include number 4 in my favorite films because Mel Gibson cut his hair for it. He's like Samson.

This is the first 'old' movie I saw as a kid that I didn't roll my eyes at. It is a classic. The opening drags us through with anticipation, and leaves us spellbound by Charlton Heston's situation until he finally opens his mouth and speaks his famous line, sending shock through the ape city. Tim Burton - do yourself a favour, go back in time and leave it alone!

See this now. Even if you hate zombie movies. It is funny and original, with memorable scenes and quotable lines. Then tell your friends about it.

This movie makes my spine tingle and it's really not that scary. Shyamalan is a master of suspense, and this is a great showcase for his talent. The scene with the kid's birthday party caught on videotape is creepy. The screenplay is flawless and engaging.

Possibly the only movie that has terrible acting and dialogue, but still manages to be taken seriously and come off as an awesome, and I mean awesome, sci fi action movie. The action keeps coming and doesn't stop. When Johnny Rico jumps on the giant bug's back and plants a grenade inside...don't tell me you didn't want to be him.

Martin Scorcese shows us how to really use a camera as he fuels Travis Bickle into a downward spiral. De Niro as Bickle is a tragic hero who we feel sorry for but don't want to stick up for. This film is a true classic, and will always genuinely be considered to be.

When I came out of this movie, it was one of the rare times when I was reminded of why movies are made: the sheer spectacle. This movie is amazing to watch, and Leonardo DiCaprio, while cursed by his boyish look, is one of the most underrated actors today.

This film is the perfect partner for its sequel. They are best watched together, but they are both stand-alone classics. This is the greatest example of a film which doesn't suffer for its slow pace. Honestly, it doesn't.
